NEARLY 100 people took part in the annual Crazy Skating championships run by St Neots Crazy Skaters at St Neots Recreation Centre. The speed events started the evening off with father and teenager son, Alan and Douglas Green from Bedford, taking part in the roller hockey speed with the father winning. The newest member of the club, Harry Warner aged five, from St Neots, entered the novice speed event and won most promising newcomer. In the freestyle competition, there were two outstanding performances by Alice Wright, 15, from Chawston and Ryan Gore, 12, from Eynesbury who both won their advanced categories. The club gave out two coaching achievement awards. These went to Tina Moore, 14, from Chawston and Alice Wright, 15, who are both training to be coaches. The hockey events completed the evening with a shoot out. There were great results for Victoria and Paul Jeffery, brother and sister from St Neots, aged 11 and 17, Jon Somerscales, a teenager from Wilsted, and brothers Matthew and Dominic Lavender from Eaton Socon, aged 14 and 11, and Phillip Webb from St Neots all getting into the finals. Matthew Dolan, 15, from Biggleswade took an early lead, with Alan Green taking control in the final and piping him to the win. Clubman of the year went to Dominic Lavender, clubwoman of the year went to Alex Neilson, 14, from Eaton Socon. Best over all hockey player was Robert Collins from Everton. The best overall club champion, was Abigail Bruce, 14, from Eaton Ford. INFORMATION: The club runs its sessions every Saturday from 5pm to 6.30pm for a general club session and 6.30 to 8pm for roller hockey. New members and families are welcome from age five to adult.
