A hattrick from captain Mike Hornby helped St Neots Men’s 1s pick up their biggest win of the season, beating St Ives 2s 6-2.

Hornby opened the scoring for Saints midway through a closely contested first half, which saw both sides miss good chances.

Hornby doubled his tally in the second half, latching on to an aerial pass which wasn’t dealt with.

Ives pegged the visitors back but only for a short period when Phil McMorris finished a brilliant team move.

The hosts did get a second, but further goals from Harry Pybus and Owen Edwards confirmed the victory.

As the game entered its final stages, Hornby was presented with one more opportunity in front of goal, which he took to complete his hat-trick.

The Men’s 2s picked up a well-earned point at home against top of the table, Cambridge South 4s.

In the same division, the Men’s 3s were heavily beaten 7-1 away to Cambridge City 7s, Paul Lawman with the goal.

A fifth win in a row and a fifth clean sheet of the season ensured the Women’s 1s stay top of Division 2NW.

Saints put on another dominant display in their 4-0 win against Spalding 1s.

It took the hosts a while to break down the Spalding defence, but eventually did when Louise Taylor drove forward and fired the ball in.

The second half opened up for Saints and player of the match, Marie Quintilla picked up a quick fire brace.

Caroline Osborne scored the fourth to confirm the win and extend the unbeaten run to ten for the season.

The Women’s 2s were also defeated away to a Cambridge side.

They lost 5-1 to Cambridge University 3s, with Chloe Pinn scoring.
