Huntingdon Rugby Club have appointed one of its ex-captains and former Belgium national side coach as its new director of rugby.

Simon Leader returns to the club following Reggie Reed and Tom Laws stepping down from their roles as head and assistant coach to take a well-earned break after three years at the helm.

After a semi-professional rugby career playing at Angouleme in France, Welsh Districts and two stints at Stags, Simon found his true vocation as a coach.

Simon will bring a wealth of experience, having worked as skills and attack coach for Cambridge, Northampton Saints development program and the Belgium National side, also acting as head of rugby at Wisbech Grammar School.

Club chairman Nick Wilcox said: "Simon is much sought after in local rugby circles, and his recruitment to Stags is something of a coup for the club.

"His ethos of developing playing and coaching skills across the club fits with our vision and will help us build for a strong future on foundations that are already in place."
