Students from Huntingdon and Ramsey joined more than 180 competitors at the 2023 Tang Soo Do European Championships.

The championship event was held in Sweden and attracted competitors from several European countries.

Along with a full day of competition across three specific elements of Tang Soo Do: weapons, forms and sparring – the event also saw many seminars and training sessions put on by World Tang Soo Do Masters from around the world (including Sweden, Norway, Holland, Greece, Great Britain and USA).

Great Britain sent a team of 35 students from clubs all over the country to represent, and once again, the students did "fantastically well" as a whole team – with local area clubs seeing particular successful.

Two students from the Huntingdon club claimed six medals between them, with Becky Sheppard taking home the 2023 European Grand Champion cup.

Further to Becky’s success, three other grand champion cups (across different age and belt divisions) were secured by Team GB – including Callum Vaghela (under 16’s European Grand Champion – who hails from the Ramsey club).

Grand Master Khan (8th Degree Grand Master and Head of GB Tang Soo Do) said: "It was fantastic to see a very strong Great Britain representation at the European Championships, and very pleasing to watch that team return with so many medals and Grand Champion cups.

"The students have worked incredibly hard in their practise and training in order to achieve this success – that can be seen not only in the winners but in the effort put in by all those who represented our country.

"It is, of course, particularly pleasing to see two European Grand Champions in the local area, with Becky (Huntingdon club) and Callum (Ramsey club) bringing home the adult and junior Black belt trophies respectively."
