Following a spirited third round of the Dunlop Mini Miglia Championship 2023, race driver Rupert Deeth has moved to sixth place in the overall standings, 45 points adrift from the top.

The Huntingdon driver is the defending champion, having won the title for a third time in 2022, and he managed a third and fifth-placed finish in the two races during the third round.

Deeth had opted to miss the second round of the competition in April, having been invited to a prestigious race in Goodwood, and had it all to do to make up the ground in the third round.

The third round saw the Championship move to Snetterton in Norfolk for two twenty-minute races across the weekend of May 13-14

Qualifying on Saturday morning saw Deeth starting in fourth, just 0.3 seconds behind pole man Aaron Smith.

During the race, Deeth battled hard for a podium position, but in the run to the flag, it was fourth for Deeth as they crossed the line.

However, the stewards got involved following the race, and driver Aaron Smith was penalised for making contact with fellow driver with Kane Astin.

This handed the win to Astin while another driver was also penalised, moving Deeth up to third.

Deeth would start sixth for Sunday’s second twenty-minute race as the top eight positions were reversed.

Getting away with the lead group, Deeth was challenging for third going through the fast Coram curve when he went off the circuit and onto the grass on the outside of the circuit.

Deeth rejoined the race in fourteenth, and from then on it was a hard and fast drive back through the field, setting consecutive fastest laps in the process.

At the end of the twenty minutes, it was a fifth-place finish for Deeth, just four seconds behind the top-four lead battle.

The next round of racing will take place at the Thruxton Circuit in June, where the Mini’s will support the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and feature on ITV4 as part of the BTCC coverage.
