Swimmers from St Ives Swimming Club (SISC) have produced "magnificent" performances and achieved lifetime personal best swims against the very best of the East Region.

Six swimmers from SISC competed at the Swim England East Region Swimming Championships at Norwich and Luton 50m pools from April 29 to May 1.

At the competition, swimmers from Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Essex all competed at the highest level of competition.

St Ives Swimmers Ciara Taylor, Chloe Butler, Zahra Lonsdale, Ewan Thompson, Elliot Megginson and Tessa Quayle all competed with outstanding performances across the board.

All jumped significantly up their entry rankings in a plethora of events, with Chloe finishing fourth in the final of the Ladies Open 100m Butterfly event and fifth in the 200m Breaststroke final.

Tessa qualified as the sixth fastest 15-year-old girl in the 50m breaststroke and came eighth in the final out of numerous competitors.

A spokesperson for SISC said: "The swimmers swam with focus and determination against much larger clubs in the region, and they did not disappoint with magnificent performances across the spectrum of ages and events, all a great credit to St Ives Swimming Club on the big stage.

"I am immensely proud of them all!
