Five gymnasts from Huntingdon Gymnastics club have capped off a thrilling week at the British Gymnastics Championships, collectively winning 14 medals.

Jake Jarman, 21, Ryan Cirino, 18, Sol Scott, 15, Uzair Chowdury, 13, and Codi Hurd, 12, competed across all apparatus over four days of competition at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool from March 23-26.

Ryan and Jake competed in the senior competition amongst the best in Britain, with Jake crowned British champion on the vault and parallel bars and winning silver on the floor and high bar.

Jake took the silver in the all-around competition, a marginal 0.6 off the gold, and Ryan put in a great performance to come fifteenth out of more than 30 competitors.

Sol took the silver in the under-16 all-around competition, narrowly missing the gold by 0.1.

Sol also won gold on the vault, silver on the high bar, and bronze on the pommel horse.

In the under-14s, Uzair repeated the success of taking all-around silver, also missing gold by only 0.1, but gained gold on the rings, vault, and parallel bars.

Teammate Codi put in a solid performance and came eighth overall out of more than 50 gymnasts, also getting silver on vault.

A spokesperson for the club said: "It was a thrilling and positive week for all the boys of Huntingdon Gymnastics Club.

"The men's artistic coaching team and the whole club are very proud of the achievements of these boys."

Jake Jarman will now be concentrating in the run-up to the GB team competing at the European Championships in Turkey this April.
