With 2023 now upon us, St Neots Hockey club are hoping for a better second half of the 2022/23 season after enduring a mixed bag of results in the first half.

The Men's 1s have been the most successful side so far, sitting in third place in Division 3NW.

After winning only two of their first five games, they have gone on to win the next five, even earning a point against table-topping March, making St Neots the only side to take points from them so far.

Saints will look to continue their winning run as they face two bottom three sides before playing back-to-back games against the top two sides at the restart.

The Women’s 1s endured a difficult start to the season, with a number of narrow defeats and trips to Norfolk.

They finished 2022 in 11th position in Division 1N, six points above the bottom two.

The 1s don’t return to action until later in January when they face important fixtures against Watton 1 in 12th and Spalding 1 in 9th.

A spokesperson for St Neots Hockey Club said: "Overall, Saints will be hoping for a better second half of the season for most of their teams, while the Men’s 1s and Women’s 2s will continue their push for promotion."

The Women's 2s finished the year in third place in Division 3NW, with a highlight being the 16-0 win over Bourne Deeping 2.

The 2s start 2023 with games against bottom side Kettering 3, then top side Ely City 1 as they continue to look towards promotion.

The Women's 3s and 4s, however, will both be looking towards more positive halves of the season as they currently sit 9th and 10th, respectively, in Division 4NW.

Elsewhere in the Men's teams, the 2s and 3s have both faced tricky first halves of the season, sitting 9th and 11th, respectively, in Division 4NW.

They start 2023 with games against two sides just above them in the table before facing each other.

The 4s also sit 9th in their division, and the spokesperson added: "Despite only picking up nine points, they have had lots of positives with the performances from the young players in the team."

The club now looks forward to ensuring the 2022/23 season ends on a high for all teams.
