With the new season in full swing, the Huntingdon Piranhas Swimming Club are enjoying lots of success at recent galas and swim meets.

Swimmers have gone to two galas in Whittlesey (March Marlins Autumn Meet) and Borehamwood (Hitchin Open Meet) and produced impressive performances.

The Hitchin Open Meet was a particularly rewarding day, with more than 40 medals won across the team, with the girls slightly edging the boys in the medal haul.

A notable achievement was from Toby Norman, who achieved the honour of 'top male swimmer' within his age group, and there were also several first-time competitors and medalists involved in the team's success.

Across the two events, the coaches commended the swimmers for their beautiful swims, improved technical skills, race tactics, resilience, and for the Hitchin Open Meet, their continued focus.

The club is now sending swimmers to events at Peterborough for long-distance time trials over 800 and 1500 metres and Biggleswade for the annual Christmas Cracker event.

Then in January 2023, some swimmers will be attending the County Championships at Cambridge Parkside Pool, where it is hoped the success and fun will continue.
