An injury-ravaged St Ives Town have suffered a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Rushall Olympic in a Southern League Premier Central match.

St Ives picked up three injuries in the week and lost the ever-reliable centre-back Jordan Williams in the warm-up, meaning only two fit available players made the bench.

Ives just about shaded the first half with Michael Richens, Ravi Shamsi and Tyrone Baker all testing the opposition's keeper.

In contrast, Ives goalkeeper James Goff only had to make a single save midway through the half.

Rushall got their noses in front in the 56th minute when Sam Mantom’s effort appeared to be blocked on the line by the hand of defender Julien Saka, but the flag was raised to confirm the effort had crossed before the intervention.

Ives huffed and puffed, but opportunities were sparse in the second half, with Rushall eventually killing the game off 15 minutes from time.

Now four league games without a win at home, Ives will push to change their fortunes on November 5 when they entertain Nuneaton Town.
