Huntingdonshire U18 2-1 Middlesex U18

HUNTINGDONSHIRE had to dig deep in the closing stages to reclaim the Harold Whiddon Memorial Trophy in a hard fought affair at Jubilee Park, Huntingdon.

Manager Adi Corney made four changes to the team which began Hunts' 3-1 win over Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday night, handing starts to keeper Max Flintoft, Oliver Medwynter, Jordan Gent and Kurtis Adams.

In a bright start Hunts had an early effort ruled out for offside but clear chances were limited on both sides.

After Adams had missed a chance to put Hunts in front, it was Simon Isaacs who was on hand to lob the on rushing keeper to give the home side the lead on 22 minutes. Nathan Woodward went close to extending the Hunts lead but it was the visitors who netted just before the break when a defensive mistake allowed Edward Clements to score.

Two minutes into the second half Hunts were back in front through substitute Barrett Stewart who picked up a poor clearance and punished the keeper with a low shot.

Both teams had good chances to increase the goals tally but Hunts hung to avenge last year's 5-1 defeat.
