RECORD-BREAKING St Neots Town now boast the biggest away victory in the 39-season history of the UCL Premier Division after annihilating Yaxley on Saturday.

Will Fordham gave Saints a ninth-minute lead, glancing in Lewis Hilliard’s free-kick at the near post, before Shane Tolley’s mazy run set up Lewis Webb to slot home number two shortly afterwards.

Webb and Hilliard then combined to provide Tolley with his first of the afternoon after 29 minutes and his second arrived on the stroke of half time, firing home at the second attempt, having struck the post with his initial shot.

Then, in the fourth minute of added time, Webb scored from the penalty spot to make it five, after home defender Andy Lodge was adjudged to have handled inside the box.

There was no let up after the break, as record signing Stefan Moore scored number six in the opening minute of the half, after goalkeeper Aaron Bellairs missed a cross.

Six became seven in the 68th minute, Matt Haniver setting up fellow substitute Rob Hughes to find the home net.

Yaxley completely capitulated after that, with Moore and Junior Kanuda creating number eight for Tony Scully after 70 minutes and Moore converting a Hughes cross a minute later.

Kanuda’s trickery set up Tolley’s hat-trick goal after 76 minutes and, five minutes later, Tolley made it 18 goals in 10 matches in all competitions for the Saints.

Moore to score his third with six minutes remaining and Adam Jones had the last word on 86 minutes from Kanuda’s assist.

Neots’ smashing success was a world away from their tight 1-1 draw at fellow title challengers Newport Pagnell Town the previous Tuesday, in which they picked up three red cards and played an hour with a midfielder in goal.

Luke McShane was dismissed 30 minutes in after remonstrating with the referee, forcing Hughes to take the gloves.

The visitors also had to come from behind, with Tolley levelling early in the second half after Daren Sykes, the division’s top scorer, had opened the scoring just before the interval.

Moore missed a penalty shortly after for the Saints, but the point was enough to take them top.

In the dying minutes, Fordham was sent off for a dangerous tackle and Jones was dismissed from the bench.
