IVES captain Ross Thompson was left to rue a missed opportunity to carry the momentum gained from their derby victory the previous weekend as they were well beaten by second placed Stamford on Saturday.
It was a result that saw them slip back down to sixth in table and the Bulls skipper felt missed tackle cost them a lot of points on the day.
“I think we left some tries out there, there is no denying that,” said Thompson.
“Stamford have a good squad and are much fitter than us but, despite that, we showed that we could score against them.
“And, but for some poor tackling, the scoreline could have been a lot different.
“We will have a lot to work on before they visit Somersham Road for the return fixture in three weeks time.”
Russell Warrington and Ollie Bartlett scored the visitors’ two tries, with Jack Blackley successfully converting one of them.
This weekend, Ives host fourth-placed Stoneygate in the first of three consecutive home league fixtures.
