The best of the weekend’s action from the Huntingdonshire junior football scene

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

FREE-SCORING Godmanchester Rovers U13A secured the A League title following their 9-4 defeat of Ramsey Colts – and Teversham’s draw with Cambridge Celts.

Ben Keating’s quick-fire hat-trick led the way while Ashley Hehir (2), Pete Southee (2), Harry Cotton and Ellis Ogle also found the net.

Connor Beaumont bagged all four goals for the Rams.

Having already won their county cup, Rovers travel to the University of Warwick this weekend to represent the county in the Tesco Cup.

A superb headed equaliser from Augusto Gomes earned Goddy U12s a 3-3 draw at Lakenheath Youth.

Connor Rice and James Osborne had earlier put Rovers two up.

RAMSEY COLTS

A BRACE from Robbie Arthur alongside a Liam Carrigan effort could not prevent Rams U11s from going down to a 6-3 reverse at Littleport.

Meanwhile Daniel Short replied in consolation for the U15s, who were beaten 3-1 at Huntingdon Rowdies.

BUCKDEN BLACK

GOALS from James Titley and Nathan Shorrock were not quite enough for Buckden U10 Black but they more than played their part in a cracking match with Fenstanton Youth, going down narrowly 3-2.

PRIORY PARKSIDE

A WINNING goal from Isaac Dunn followed up on two from team mate Alex Harris as Priory U10H returned to action with a 3-2 victory over Brampton Spartans.

James Dean and Marcus Read scored for the Spartans, who recovered from 2-0 down to draw level 2-2 before conceding the killer third.

HUNTINGDON ROWDIES

HAT-TRICKS from Billy Jennings and Jake McFarlane were the highlights for Rowdies U12s who finished their season on a high with an 8-1 win over Warpole Warriors

Ben Hurst and Kian Crowe were also on the scoresheet for the winners.

Seven-up Rowdies U7s got the better of Sawtry courtesy of Lui Carnell, Tommy Dear (2), Henry Smith (3) and Thomas Garcia.

A topsy-turvy game saw Huntingdon Rowdies U10s lead 2-0 – and then recover from 4-2 behind – in their thrilling 4-4 draw with Hemingford.

Alfie Dear and a Freddie Francis treble earned Rowdies a share of the spoils.

BUCKDEN JUNIORS

Joe Brooks’ brace, Louis Spicer and an own goal made up the tally for Buckden U10 White who defeated Bluntisham Blasters U10 Red 4-1.

A hat-trick from James Bonafont and a goal from Billy Haverson saw Buckden U11 win their keenly-contested final league game 4-1 against Brampton Spartans Red.

BRAMPTON SPARTANS

SPARTANS U10 recovered from a goal down at the break to run out eventual 3-1 home winners over Somersham Gold last Wednesday.

With Euan Hamilton superb in goal, two great strikes from Marcus Read and a Jordan Locke effort saw Brampton home.

Martin Uy’s early goal and an Arthur Dunn penalty were Brampton U12s’ scorers in their 3-2 home defeat by Milton Colts.

ALCONBURY

BURY U16s have been playing catch-up over the past week after bad weather earlier in the year followed by cup runs in three different competitions.

It meant they had to play three games in six days, starting with their 4-1 win at Chatteris last Tuesday - Danny Duckworth (3) and Tom Hughes netting.

Next up was a 2-2 home draw against Cambourne last Thursday, with Duckworth, again, and Harry Moffett scoring.

But their best was yet to come – as they delivered a 7-1 hammering to Lakenheath on Sunday.

Hughes, Chris Alban and Ryan Smith all bagged a brace with Duckworth making up their tally.

ST IVES RANGERS

RANGERS U12 failed to recover after going behind in the first minute which ultimately saw them slip to a 2-0 defeat at home against Bottisham.

Efforts from Daffa Presetyo, Cameron Haxell and Peter Masters saw St Ives Rangers U13A get the better of hosts Burwell Tigers 3-0.

At U14 level, Rangers hosted Priory Parkside in their penultimate game of the season and shared the points in a goalless draw.

WARBOYS COLTS

A DOZEN goals were shared between Warboys Colts Wizards U8 and Stilton in a 6-6 draw.

Danny Carrigan grabbed a hat-trick, while Daniel Chivers, Ryan Bullard and William Lamin also had their shooting boots on.

HEMINGFORD JUNIORS

MATTY LYNN bagged himself a hat-trick for Hemingford U7s as they signed off in style 7-0 against St Ives.

The scoreline was probably a little harsh on tough-tackling Ives, who had done well to hold out until the break with the scores still level.

But Hemingford ran riot after the interval with Joe Halls, Louis Cobb, Dom Fairholm and Jimmy Quinn rounding off a fine win.
