St Neots Town Saints go into United Counties League Division battle tomorrow morning (Sunday).
Lydia Bedford takes charge of the Under 21 side in a competitive match for the first time when they travel to Thrapston Town (10.45am).
The early start is down to the fact the match forms part of the Rutland Groundhop – a series of matches over three days laid on to tempt non-league football fans to that area.
St Neots Town completed their pre-season schedule with a high-scoring success at National League South side Concord Rangers today.
They will go into the new Southern League Premier Division campaign full of confidence after a fine 5-1 triumph.
Ryan Hawkins converted an early penalty before Tom Meechan doubled their lead with an overhead kick.
Peter Clark laid on a third goal for Remy Gordon before the players reversed roles on a fourth goal after the hosts had hit a consolation. Gordon was then the provider as Meechan completed the scoring.
St Ives Town drew 1-1 at Spalding United in their final pre-season fixture.
Danny Watson hit an equaliser on the stroke of half-time – his second goal in as many games – after Saints had fallen behind to an early penalty in Lincolnshire.
Watson also failed to take a couple of excellent chances early in the second half before Ben Seymour-Shove squandered another opportunity from close range.
Godmanchester Rovers claimed a higher-level scalp by beating Soham Town Rangers at Bearscroft Lane.
They survived a comeback from the visitors to prevail 3-2 after a Tom Spark strike, a James Hall header and a Tom Moran penalty had put them in command.
Eynesbury Rovers beat Ampthill Town 3-1 at Hall Road. Lee Bassett, Shane Fox and Matty Bannister hit their goals.
