Huntingdon bowler Nicky Brett bids for world glory – and a £55,000 payday – live on national television this afternoon.
Brett faces fellow Englishman Robert Paxton in the final of the Just Retirement World Indoor Championships at the Potters Resort, Hopton-on-Sea. The showpiece clash is being screened by BBC2 from 2pm.
World number one Brett booked his place in a first final with a tie-break triumph over David Gourlay in a semi-final thriller yesterday.
Brett, who now plays out of Huntingdon IBC, eventually prevailed 6-7, 7-6, 2-0 after a titanic clash on the famous blue carpet.
Paxton, ranked fourth in the world, also had to come through a tie-break to clinch a 3-12, 7-4, 2-1 success over defending champion Alex Marshall.
