Dan Sherlock’s side collected a seven-wicket success against Buntingford last Saturday to sweep back to the Division Two summit.

Ben Carter followed up a four-wicket haul with a half-century as Needingworth dismissed their visitors for 190 before cruising to victory.

He made 54 while fellow opener Josh Smith amassed 55 and skipper Sherlock added 46.

Sherlock said: “We were a bit unsure of the standard after coming up last season, but we’ve managed to stay in the habit of winning games of cricket.

“We’ve kept the same bunch of lads together. It is a young team and one that keeps improving. We’d obviously like to get promoted again and I think we’re capable of doing it.

“We’ve got a lot of tough games towards the end of the season so we need to ensure we are right up there in the mix for when they come around.”

Needingworth also boast another table-topping team as their 2nds impress in Division Four North of the Cambs Junior League.

They are yet to taste defeat in 2016 after seeing off Abbots Ripton in a low-scoring clash last Saturday. Tim Webb took 4-9 as the Needingworth side successfully defended a tally of 103 by dismissing their hosts for 91.
