Bowls: Huntingdon bowler Nicky Brett captured the World Indoor Singles Championship with a 9-9, 12-9 final triumph over England team-mate Robert Paxton.
Football: David Batch resigned as manager of St Neots Town after 13 months in charge.
Athletics: Hunts AC sisters Shannon (Under 15 Girls) and Lexi (Under 11 Girls) both powered to Cambridgehire Cross-Country Championship titles.
Football: Former St Ives Town striker Conor Washington continued his rapid rise in the game by earning a £2.5 million transfer from League One club Peterborough to Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
Horse Racing: Sceau Royal, for trainer Alan King and jockey Daryl Jacob, won the £20,000 Chatteris Fen Juvenile Hurdle at Huntingdon Racecourse.
Athletics: Issy Wilkins (Minor Girls) and Ashley Quince (Minor Boys) - both pupils at Hinchingbrooke School - were successful at the Cambridgeshire Schools’ Cross-Country Championships.
Boxing: St Neots puncher Tommy Martin suffered the first defeat of his pro career when he was stopped by John Wayne Hibbert in the final round of a brilliant Commonwealth and WBC International title fight in London.
FEBRUARY
Football: Bob Warby became Huntingdon Town’s third manager of the season after succeeding Scott Witherall, who stepped down by mutual agreement.
Swimming: Ollie Fitt captured 12 gold medals and clubmate James Quinn bagged 10 as St Ives Swimming Club impressed at the Cambridgeshire Championships.
Athletics: Katie Wright (Under 15 Girls), Ella Blake (Under 20 Women), and Conall McGinness (Under 15 Boys) won gold, silver and bronze respectively to earn an 800m medal hat-trick for Hunts AC at the Eastern Counties Indoor Championships.
Boxing: St Ives star Shona Whitwell lifted the 60kg title at the England Youth Championships. The 17-year-old beat three of her international team-mates to emerge victorious.
Fencing: Dan Summerfield won the Under 16 Boys title at the Eastern Region Youth Foil Championships while fellow Huntingdonshire Fencing Club competitor, Hannah Smyth, picked up silver in the Under 16 Girls section.
Orienteering: Seonaid Dudley, of Huntingdon, retained her W75 title at the East Anglian Championships, while husband Mike took silver in the M80 section.
Football: St Neots Town hot-shot Tom Meechan earned a move to Football League club Newport County. The prolific frontman hit 26 goals in just over half-a-season with Saints after firing 53 for Godmanchester Rovers in the previous campaign.
Athletics: Hunts AC man Wayne DuBose won three titles, set two new records and suffered a dislocated shoulder at the Eastern Veterans’ Championships – his first indoor competition for 16 years.
Football: Godmanchester man Jordan Nicholson made his Football League debut as a substitute for Peterborough United in a League One loss at Millwall.
MARCH
Gymnastics: Louis Smith boosted his Olympic hopes by winning silver at the English Championships. Young Huntingdon clubmates Kieron Burch and Ryan Cirino also won medals.
Rugby: Huntingdon Under 13s followed up their Cambridgeshire Plate triumph by winning the East Midlands equivalent to complete an honours double.
Boxing: St Ives fighter Karl Wheeler won the British Challenge cruiserweight title by stopping previously unbeaten Biola Kudus in London.
Athletics: Local clubs dominated in the Frostbite Friendly League as Hunts AC took the overall title at senior level and Riverside Runners won the junior crown - by a single point from Hunts AC.
Bowls: Nicky Brett saw his Co-operative Funeralcare International Open title defence ended by a tie-break loss at the semi-final stage.
Gymnastics: Huntingdon Gymnastics Club teenager Benji Eyre scooped all-around gold at the Welsh Championships while Patrick Murphy claimed all-around silver at the Scottish Championships.
Football: Conor Washington earned his first cap for Northern Ireland in a friendly draw against Wales – and then hit his first international goal a few days later against Slovenia.
Athletics: Kimbolton Prep School’s Under 11 girls – Lucia Mosca, Maddie Todd, Olivia Corner, Daisy Coulson-Bascombe and Sadie Werrett - won silver medals in the team event at the National Prep Schools’ Cross-Country Championships.
Boxing: St Ives prospect Bradley Smith completed a hat-trick of wins in the professional ranks by stopping Bosnian opponent Anto Nakic in London.
