St Neots Sapphires have completed an honours double.
They followed up a Division Three title success in the Bedford & District League by also lifting the League Cup courtesy of a final triumph last week.
Sapphires triumphed in three of the four quarters – which each count as a match in their own right in cup clashes – in a showpiece against Cranfield.
The St Neots side won 7-4 in the opener before going down 9-4 in the second quarter. They triumphed 8-7 in thrilling third instalment and then sealed the silverware with a 9-4 verdict in the finale.
Team manager Cheryl Bryson said: “It was a fantastic win, which provided a great end to a successful season.”
Sapphires’ ace Izzie Pigg was selected as player of the match in the final.
St Neots Netball Club train on Tuesdays at Longsands Academy – 6pm to 7pm for juniors and 7pm to 8.30pm for adults. New players are welcome.
