It’s not often that some of the world’s best footballing nations and biggest clubs do battle around here – but that was the case in St Ives last Sunday when the Hunts FA staged their annual summer festival at the One Leisure Outdoor Centre.
It featured non-competitive five-a-side Champions League events in the Under 7, Under 8, Under 9 and Under 10 age groups with each team playing as a major European side.
And in the Under 12 Girls section, which was competitive and won by Coton Cosmos, each teams played as a country who will feature in the Women’s Euros this summer.
A total of 47 teams were involved in the annual tournament with around 500 children taking part.
Hunts FA official Wendy Chambers said: “It was a great success again and we received some terrific feedback.
“Our aim is to provide opportunities for children to have fun through playing football and they certainly got that on Sunday.”
