Five members of St Ives Cycling Club contested the Milton Keynes Bowl circuit race, with Andy Wylde coming third.
The slippery corners made it impossible for any riders to break away and with five laps to go the bunch were set for a sprint finish.
Paul Rennie miscalculated the distance to the finish and went early, but by stringing out the bunch he put Wylde into third place.
Mick Watts finished a creditable seventh, followed by Rennie, Greg Simcock, and Mark Thomson.
