GYMNASTS from the Huntingdon Olympic Gym Club are back in the UK after representing Great Britain at the World Gymnastics Championships in Denmark.
Luke Folwell, 19, and Emma White, 16, have been enjoying a well-earned rest after a gruelling preparation for the event earlier this month.
White, selected at the last minute, worked on the floor and vault alongside five team mates including Olympic and World medallist Beth Tweddle.
White helped Great Britain to an 11th placed finish from a field of more than 40 nations, including some 200 of the best gymnasts in the world.
The top 12 placing was crucial in order to be selected for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
A delighted White said: "I competed on two pieces of apparatus without a major mistake and helped the team to a great result.
"Now I have to aim to stay in this top group and challenge for an Olympic place in two years' time."
Meanwhile, HOGC team mate Luke Folwell worked on four pieces of apparatus to help Great Britain to 19th place from a field of 43, an improvement on the 23rd position gained in the previous World Championships, and safely in the top 24 required for entry into next year's event.
