SCORES of volunteers descended on St Ives Town FC for a working party at the club's ground at the weekend.

The volunteers set to work on the clubhouse and the pitch, helping to prepare the Westwood Road facility ahead of the start of pre-season training next week.

Joint-manager Jez Hall said: "The day was a resounding success, although there is still more work that needs to be done over the next few weekends.

"Work has started on the decorating of the clubhouse with new doors and ceilings throughout and the updating of the toilets. The bar area will be completely refurbished and the changing rooms will be updated.

"The outside will take on a new feel with pitch perimeter fencing and the clearing of bushes and greenery to allow for a children's play area to be created."
