James Harris hit a hat-trick as St Ives 1sts continued their fine run of East Men’s League form in 2018.

The local lads extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a 4-2 triumph against Norwich Dragons 1sts last Saturday.

Adam Maltby also found the net in a success which kept his side’s faint hopes of a second successive promotion alive.

The club’s 2nds continued their challenge for Division Four North-West title glory with a pleasing victory.

They came from behind to register a 2-1 win at Cambridge South 3rds – a result which moved them level with long-time leaders Wisbech Town 2nds.

Tim Jones levelled late in the first half from close range before Pete Liddle completed the turnaround in the closing stages after a Jamie Sewell shot had been saved.

Mike McKenna, Joe Warr and Miles Jones fired St Ives 3rds to derby glory as they claimed a 3-1 win against St Neots 4ths to move to within a point of the Division Five North-West summit.

St Ives 4ths returned to winning ways with a bang in Division Six North-West (South) as they thrashed Kettering 4ths 18-1.

Tom King-Venables led the charge with seven goals and Jon Wildin struck four times. Tom Smith bagged a brace with Richard Corbett, Simon Dew, Alex Berry, Alex Clark and Rob Brand also on target.

But St Ives were denied a full set of successes as their 5ths were beaten by a solitary goal against Cambridge South 5ths at the same level.

Depleted St Ives Ladies 1sts were plunged deeper into East Women’s League relegation trouble last Saturday.

They were beaten 5-0 by fellow strugglers Watton in Division One North as only the fine exploits of goalkeeper Chloe Fegan-Webb prevented an even heavier defeat.

St Ives 3rds saw their promotion hopes dented by a 5-0 defeat to Cambridge South 2nds in a big Division Four North-West (South) clash.

And the club’s 4ths were also beaten as they went down 2-1 to their Newmarket equivalents in Division Five North-West (South).

Emma Williams halved their arrears with a fine individual effort late on.
