Electricity RWE Generation UK plc The Electricity Act 1989 (Section 36C) The Electricity Generating Stations (Variation of Consents) (England and Wales) Regulations 2013 - Regulation 5 (The variation regulations') Notice of an application to vary a consent for a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station at Little Barford, Little Barford, St Neots, Cambridgeshire, PE19 6YT. 

Notice is hereby given that RWE Generation UK plc, Company number: 03892782, (the `Applicant') having their registered office at Windmill Hill Business Park, Whitehill Way, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN5 6PB, has made an application (the 'Variation Application') to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (the Appropriate Authority') to vary the consent granted to Little Barford Power Station on 5th February 1991 (Section 36 Consent') and the direction under section 90(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (deemed planning permission'). 

The Variation Application requests that the Secretary of State in the exercise of their powers under Section 36C of the Electricity Act 1989 varies the original consent to authorise the operation of the power station at an increased electrical capacity of up to 750MW. The Variation Application also seeks minor amendments to the deemed planning conditions to reflect the fact that construction of the power station is complete and to reflect other changes in circumstances since the original consent was granted. RWE Generation UK plc has received notice under Regulation 4(6) of the Variation Regulations that the Secretary of State considered that the variation application is suitable for publication on 14/07/2021.

Any person wishing to make objections or representations about the Variation Application to the Secretary of State must do so no later than 3rd September 2021 by sending any such representations by email only to: beiseip@beis.gov.uk for the attention of: The Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, c/o Matt Burling, Energy Infrastructure Planning Team. 

Pursuant to Regulation 8 of the Variation Regulations the Secretary of State may cause a public inquiry to be held into the Variation Application if it considers it appropriate to do so having considered: 

Any representation made about the Variation Application to the Secretary of State Which a relevant planning authority makes within two months of the date on which a copy of the Variation Application was served on it under Regulations 5(2)(2B)) of the Variation Regulations; and Which any other person makes on or before the date specified in accordance with Regulation 5(5)(b)(iii) or the Variation Regulations, where those representations are not withdrawn; and 

All other material considerations

Any representations received by the Secretary of State will be shared with Bedford Borough Council and the Applicant with all personal information removed. The Secretary of State may decide to vary the consent or may refuse to vary the consent.
