A 25-year-old youth worker was suffering with a depressive illness when he took his own life, an inquest heard.

Samuel Lloyd, of The Maltings, in Sawtry, left his home at about 3pm on April 25, telling his family that he was going to visit the cinema.

At an inquest into his death, which took place at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon, on Thursday, coroner David Morris heard that his family became concerned as to his whereabouts when he failed to return home or answer phone calls.

Letters written by Samuel addressed to his family were later discovered in the house.

His car was tracked down to Monks Wood, in Huntingdon, the following day and the police were called. A search of the area was carried out Samuel was discovered, hanged.

At the inquest, Samuel was described by family as a "wonderful son and grandson with a lot of friends locally".

Mr Morris concluded that the 25-year-old had taken his own life.
