The St Neots Museum organised a Regency Radicals event where children were given a chance to make Duke Wellingtons hat or Emmas handbag. Curator Liz Davies said: All the children loved it, and the parents really enjoyed themselves as well. The idea was that those who came to the session on last week (July 23-24) were able to make a replica of Wellingtons hat with the help of volunteers at the museum. We also wanted to give girls the chance to make handbags as around the Edwardian time sheer dresses came into fashion so women started to wear bags rather than tying reticules around their waist as they previously did, added Liz. The event was a part of the museums summer of activities exploring history through a variety of craft workshops.
