For the second year in succession, a young writer from St Neots has won the district section of the national Young Writer competition organised by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.

Kitty Crane, aged 10, from Crosshall Junior School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of St Neots St Mary’s, competed against junior school pupils in the club’s district which includes 90 rotary clubs in western Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.

Her writing, based on this year’s theme of ‘reflections’ was chosen by the five judges who were particularly impressed by her imaginative ideas and excellent use of descriptive words and phrases.

The club has now put Kitty’s work forward to the national competition.
