A YOUNG man was taken to hospital after a crash near Alconbury airfield yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Alconbury at 11.30am after the two-vehicle smash.

Two people, one in his 40s, were able to get out of their car, but a man, in his 20s, had to be cut free by firefighters.

Magpas Helimedix Dr Darren Reid, Dr Rob Major and paramedic Adam Carr, assessed the man in his 40s, who suffered minor chest injuries but didn't need to go to hospital.

The Helimedix treated the younger man, who suffered spinal and lower leg injuries in the crash. He was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital and was described as being in a stable condition.

The incident has been passed on to the Health and Safety Executive.
