A YOUNG man has been left with possibly permanent injuries following a brutal attack in St Neots.
The 24-year-old victim was knocked unconscious during the assault and required emergency surgery after his jaw was broken in three places. His horrified mother, who did not wish to be identified, told The Hunts Post that extensive damage had been inflicted to nerve endings to one side of her son’s face and he might never regain feeling.
Police are now appealing for information following the attack on Sunday morning (June 26), which happened as the victim walked across Market Square at about 1.30am.
The offender is described as 18, slim, 5ft 9in tall, young looking with short, dark, spiky hair. He was wearing a grey cardigan, T-shirt and jeans.
A police spokesman said: “This was a nasty attack that has left a young man with lasting injuries.
“We would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has any information to contact police.”
