The Somersham Town under 6 football team won new kit thanks to a competition run by energy firm E.ON.

The newly-formed team of five and six-year-olds are now proudly wearing their first ever kit in the club’s colours.

Katie Chamberlain, whose son Toby has been playing as part of the team since October, entered the competition on behalf of the boys.

She said: “The boys were so proud to have formed their own team, and to be part of the Somersham Town set up, so it’s quite special to be able to present them each with their own shirt, shorts and socks.

“Somersham Town Football Club has a long history and is well established in our community, but these under 6 players are the youngest team at the club, and will hopefully come to play their part in keeping the club going long into the future.

“With proper kits now, they feel like a real team and are excited about the rest of the season.”
