Classroom-based entrepreneurs from across the region gathered in St Ives for Huntingdonshire Young Enterprise’s popular annual Christmas market.

The event served as a first opportunity for many of those taking part to offer their goods and services direct to members of the public in the busy pre-Christmas period.

In addition to testing out the appeal of their wares on real buyers, the students taking part also competed against each other for cash prizes in several tough categories, including Best Product, Best Innovation, Best Trade Stand and Best Customer Service.

Team Prosperity, from Kimbolton School, won best Overall Company and Best Customer Service.

The Best Innovation was won by Azurro, of Focus School, in Cambridge; the Best Trade Stand was won by Dynasty, of the Ken Stimpson Community School; and the Best Product was won by Commix, from Longsands Academy, in St Neots.

The sponsors of this year’s event, which took place on December 16, were Anglian Water, GPS PE Pipe Systems, Bakerail Services and the Federation of Small Businesses. Peterborough-based Total Clothing.co.uk sponsored a contest for the best logo, donating a prize of bespoke printed T-shirts for the winning team.
