Students from St Ivo School competed in the 2015 Rotary Young Chef competition.

The Rotary Club of St Ives and the food and technology department at the school organised the event, which aims to promote creative cuisine and encourage young chefs to showcase their skills.

Each student had to produce a two-course meal for two people to a tight budget of £12.

The judges for the event: Jo Cornish, of Hartford, and Melanie Sadler, head chef and owner of the Olive Tree Café at the Oakington Garden Centre, praised the high standard of hygiene, presentation and quality of the meal demonstrated and produced by all the Year 11 students.

Rotarian Sally Heffer said: “The Rotary Club is proud to be associated with these talented young people and we are very pleased to sponsor the Young Chef competition.”

In a very close competition, the winners were Holly Toulson (1st), Mark Shirley (2nd) and Ella Bentley (3rd).
