A police car smashed into a set of railings in St Ives while pursuing a van suspected of being used as part of a burglary.
Officers were called at about 3.15am on October 19 to a shop in Ramsey Road, Warboys, following reports that a burglary was taking place.
According to Cambridgeshire police, a brick was used to smash through a window before burglars fled the scene in a van.
A spokesman for the force said: “The vehicle was located in St Ives but refused to stop for police. There was a pursuit and the police vehicle came into contact with the van.”
The police vehicle smashed into railings in The Waits before a pursuit on foot began. However, the force spokesman said the offenders managed to escape the scene and no arrests were made.
A recovery lorry was later called to remove the police vehicle from the railings.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
