Work is nearing completion at The Norris Museum, in St Ives, after months spent being redeveloped.

The site, in The Broadway, has been undergoing essential construction inside and out with the hope of reopening this summer.

Part of the work includes a new internal look for the museum, which is being fit at the beginning of June, and an extension which has just had its new roof completed.

Sarah Russell, museum director, said: “The builders have cleverly connected the old building to the new. The shape of the garden is beginning to appear with new paths being mapped out and some of our lovely York stone being re-laid.

“Now is the time to keep a close eye on our social media streams as we will soon be releasing the date of our opening weekend and we have some very exciting things planned.”

The work was achievable thanks to a £1.4 million grant, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and during construction staff have had to work from offices St Ives Town Hall.

It’s next event is a tour of St Ives on May 10, meeting at the Oliver Cromwell statue, in Market Hill.

Places are £4 and can be booked on 01480 497314.
