On July 4 at the Memorial Hall in Alconbury, Priscilla Dawson, president, welcomed members and guests. Sally Dalley and her team were congratulated on achieving third place in the co-operative entry at the East of England Show with their interpretation of Barbara Cartland coming to tea.
Four members had attended the annual meeting at Cardiff and reported on their enjoyment of the event. After the business was conducted, Priscilla handed over the meeting to Phyl Jackson for members night. Members were delighted to welcome the archdeacon of Oakham, David Painter, who entertained them with two readings from Martin Chuzzlewick. His characterisation of Mrs Gamp and Betsy Prigg had his audience in stitches. After delicious refreshments, members struggled with a quiz based on the London Underground.
