Carol Gibbins welcomed 34 members, two new members and five visitors to the June meeting. Members and friends enjoyed their trip to Beth Chatto Gardens on a sunny afternoon and many came home laden with plants. Members are looking forward to the guided walking tour of Oundle and cream tea later this month, and the lunch club will be dining at Brampton Mill. The drama group had its first meeting in May and will meet monthly. Following refreshments, the president introduced the speaker, Bob Burn-Murdoch from the Norris Museum in St Ives, with an odd objects quiz. He passed around items from the museum which had to be identified, everything from a dinosaur incisor to a wig curler - a fun evening with most items identified. A vote of thanks was followed by a round of applause. There will be a trip to the Forum, Norwich, including coach, tours, lunch and a two-hour broads cruise. It costs \u00A337 and a few spaces are still available. Contact Betty on 01480 412413 for more information. June birthday girls were Ruth Butler, Pam Cleathero, Margaret Hartley, Margaret Hawking, Shirley Hiscox and Joan Sutton. The raffle was won by visitor Joy Pearce and Joan Sutton won the table flowers. The next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 4 when the speaker will be Mr M Bentinck on wartime women. New members and visitors are always welcome.
