A woman jumped from a first floor window after a fire broke out in their home in St Ives this morning (Monday).
Two people were in their home in Erica Road when a fire started on the first floor at 3.10am. A woman suffered a suspected ankle injury after jumping to safety.
She was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon. The two others were treated for smoke inhalation but didn’t need to go to hospital.
Firefighters from Huntingdon and Papworth extinguished the fire by 3.55am.
Group commander Chris Parker said: “The fire started in one bedroom of the property and the residents were in another bedroom.
“All of the doors in the property were open meaning the fire spread quickly and the top floor has been badly fire damaged.
“We would urge residents to always close doors as part of their bedtime routine to help prevent fire spread. And remember to always ensure you have a correctly fitted working smoke alarm.”
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of fire.
