A FAMILY of five had to be cut free after a car towing a caravan overturned on the A1M. The incident happened at around 11.10am today (Friday) on the A1M near Alconbury. The family are believed to have been from Spain originally. A woman aged 54, believed to be the mother of the family, was trapped in the vehicle and had sustained multiple injuries. Paramedics from Magpas Helimedix attended the scene and offered treatment. Fire crews from Huntingdon and Sawtry used specialist cutting equipment to free the woman, and assisted paramedics at the scene. All five patients were then transferred to Peterborough General Hospital. The womans condition is said to be serious but stable. Motorists experienced lengthy delays, with tailbacks stretching back along the A1 and A14 as far as Bar Hill.
