A KNIFE has been found in a street close to the Wisbech bungalow where 86-year-old widow Una Crown was stabbed to death.

A man delivering newspapers discovered the weapon in a street near to Magazine Lane this morning.

The knife has been seized by police and will be examined to see if it is linked to the murder of Mrs Crown.

The pensioner was found dead in her home at 10.45am on Sunday. She was last seen alive on Friday, however she spoke to a friend by telephone at about 5pm on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination confirmed she died as a result of stab wounds to her neck and chest.

Her body was set on fire following her death in an apparent attempt to hide her injuries and destroy evidence.

Det Chief Insp Jon Hutchinson said: “We were made aware of the discovery of a knife in a street near to Magazine Lane this morning.
