: Members and friends of the Holywell-cum-Needingworth Wine Society went by coach to visit the Buntingford micro-brewery, just south of Royston. The brewery, which is run by Steve and Catherine, was set up in a redundant farm building last September.
Their current production is 1,200 gallons a week, which is distributed to local pubs and the rest is sent away for bottling. Steve explained the brewing process, which takes about a week. They produce five different brews but use the same yeast for all of these. Malted barley is brought in from the local area and the water comes from a well. The guests were invited to help themselves to samples of bitter and mild. Following the visit, the coach went to The Tally Ho in Barkway where a late meal was enjoyed, accompanied by Buntingford's Challenger Beer.
