Carol Gibbins welcomed 53 members and a visitor to the April meeting. Dorothy Older attended the council meeting as delegate and gave a report. During March members had lunch at the Axe & Compass, went on a circular walk starting at Houghton Mill, and visited the Key Theatre to see Kiss Me Kate.
The speaker was Brian Payne who was to speak about life in a Fenland village, but his projector failed and instead he told of his 37 years as a magistrate.
The raffle winner was Jenny Rankin, and Silke Ibbotson won the table flowers. April birthday girls were Audrey Brookes, Verena Bruce, Iris Curtis, Joan Lawford and Margaret Stanion.
The next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 1 when the speaker will be Alison Morel on "What not to wear". New members and visitors are always welcome.
