Vice president Margaret Whyte welcomed members to July's meeting. The outing to Ely had been disappointing as the guide did not come, but a full refund and the offer of another date had been made. Members sent good wishes to Felicity after her operation, and to Nora who is emigrating to Canada. Only four members had come to June's chat and craft meeting. It was hoped more would come to the meeting in July, when ideas to mark the 90th birthday will be discussed. The BookWIrms had read several books by Anne Tyler in June, and will meet this month to discuss My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult. Bob Scott gave a fascinating demonstration of glass-blowing, while telling members about the properties of different glass and the techniques he uses. Jane volunteered to have a go. Sylvia was the winner of a beautiful glass owl made as we watched. There is no August meeting, but there will be a coffee evening on August 14 at Hilary's home. The next meeting is in September when the speaker will be from Macmillan Cancer Support.
