CLEAN TEAM: HUNTINGDON Fire Station is holding a fun day and charity car wash on Saturday (August 14).

The money raised will be split between the MS Trust and the Fire Fighters Charity.

Members of the public will be able to have their cars washed and there are plenty of other attractions to keep the whole family entertained, including a barbecue, bouncy castle, a face painter, a classic car show and safety advice from firefighters.

The inspiration for the event, which will run between 10am and 4pm, came from Carrie Sweeney, 23, who was diagnosed with MS when she was 19.

After going to the doctor with pains in her legs, Carrie, from Huntingdon, was diagnosed with the condition, a debilitating disease of the nervous system.

She said: “I want to do all I can to highlight the condition and raise funds for the MS Trust so that they can help others like me.”

Carrie will be taking part in a charity trek in Costa Rica in November to raise further funds for the charity. The joining fee is 3,000 and she has already exceeded her target, so far raising 4,000.

Eddie Theaker, watch manager at Huntingdon Fire Station, said: “Don’t ruin your weekend with household chores like washing the car. Instead, do your bit for charity and come to Huntingdon Fire Station. We’ll put in the elbow grease while you have fun!”
