Three teachers at Longsands Academy, in St Neots, have made a short video to promote the school’s support for the town’s food bank.
All tutor groups have been asked to take part in a reverse advent calendar in order to provoke thought and discussions among pupils about those who may be struggling to buy food this winter.
Teachers Kate Saunders, Stephanie Hills and Danni Broughton made a short film in the St Neots branch of Tesco to create awareness about which items are suitable for the foodbank.
The food bank has provided the school with a list of items it needs and staff and students hope to make up 50 Christmas hampers which will be handed over at the school on December 11.
The reverse advent calendar means, instead of opening windows and taking gifts, students will donate items and these will make up the hampers.
“Rather than opening a door and finding a chocolate, the idea is to give something to help others who are in need of support,” said a spokesman for the school.
