Huntingdonshire residents are being warned about a Microsoft telephone scam.
Cambridgeshire police has received two calls from people in Ramsey and Huntingdon who have received a phone call from someone pretending to be from Microsoft about their computer.
Dave Griffin, Huntingdon community safety officer, said: “This is a very old scam and involves a phone call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft who says that there is either something wrong with your computer or they can update your system.
“They will normally ask for a payment for this service and once you allow them access to your computer they will be able to access a lot of your personal information.
“If you receive a call as above please do not allow them access - stop the call immediately.”
INFORMATION: If you are made aware of either a friend or relative who has been caught by this scam, it should be reported to Action Fraud online at www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud.
