The incidents took place in Lancaster Drive, between April 6 and 8, and Crown Close, between April 7 and 8, in St Ives. The two men offered to do gardening work for the elderly victims, and during the incidents either over charged, carried out poor work or did not complete the task. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: If you see any suspicious vehicles or people, especially if they are knocking on doors offering to do gardening or maintenance work, please take the vehicle registration number and a description of any people and phone us. If these people are genuine then they will not mind being checked out by the police. Neighbours and relatives are also being asked to keep an eye on elderly or vulnerable residents. The offenders are also breaking Trading Standards laws by failing to provide a contract and allowing customers 14 day cooling off period when anything more than £42 is involved. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
