The First World War medals of a soldier from Grafham are to go under the hammer at an auction in Suffolk.
Private Alfred Herbert Ellis died of severe wounds aged just 22 on May 1, 1918.
He was serving with the Second Battalion of the Royal Berkshire Regiment, before which he had served with the Cyclists Battalion.
Pte Ellis was the son of Alfred and Clara Ellis, of Grafham.
He is buried in Vignacourt British Cemetery, in France, and his grave is looked after by the Commonwealth War Graves Commision.
Pte Ellis’s medals are with Lockdales, the auctioneers of Martlesham, near Ipswich and will go under the hammer as one lot on July 9 with a catalogue guide price of £350 to £360.
The medals include The British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the Death Plaque.
