Businesses and volunteers donated their time and resources to help revamp Huntingdon Canoe Club’s changing facilities in Hinchingbrook Country Park.

Realising that the facilities were in need of sprucing up, club chairman Sophie Hughes contacted Huntingdon’s West End DIY to assist, and the shop agreed to donate some items free, including paint and mould remover.

Ms Hughes said: “This simple act of kindness galvanised the whole club into a massive act of teamwork, more materials were donated by club kayakers who had items spare at home or who work as builders including local paddler Stephen Moorbey at Stephen’s Property Maintenance.

“Club members donated their time and expertise to set a day aside for the task in hand, not only did we paint the clubhouse but we completed other tasks including strimming, painting the soffits, mending the doors and cleaning the changing rooms inside and out.”
