The community of Ramsey came out in force at the weekend to celebrate the town’s 13th bi-annual carnival.

Charities, community groups and clubs donned their brightest outfits to march through the streets cheered on by the crowds.
Candy Dodsley, chairman of the Ramsey Carnival committee, said: “It was very good, we had a lot of rain in the morning but by the afternoon it was very successful. The day was really well attended and everybody had a great day.”
After the parade, families took to Abbey College which showcased the best that the town had to offer with a number of groups pitching a stand for the event.
“The event was set up in 1991 to provide a vehicle for local organisations to make people aware of them,” added Mrs Dodsley.
Also in the afternoon there was live music from a number of local acts including cover band The Killer Shrimps as well as fairground rides, quad bikes and archery.
The committee, of five local residents, will now take a break from carnival organisations before putting together the next event for 2018.
